Finally, finally, finally after many delays and after having a few rather loud "discussions" with our contractor a few things have had to change. The owner of the company has taken over the project from the project manager, Zac due to numerous issues on his part in regards to (wait for it) communication. I have been saying for some time that Zac was not being completely up front with us. Turns out he is the sort that really wants to make people happy and he falls into the trap of telling people what they want to hear and not what is the truth.
I had complained to him many times about this but it wasn't until his boss got involved that things began to be shown as to what they really are.
That meant that several things were discovered by both the contractor and myself that we were not actually aware of. Such as the delivery date for doors which Zac had been telling us over and over had been ordered and would be in in 2 to 3 weeks. Problem, Door supplier actually told him in August that it would be the end of November at the soonest. That would be a minimum of 12 weeks not 2 or 3. After jumping Zac's shit over that in front of his boss I was told they would do their best to expedite the doors.
A week of my asking and asking for a delivery date on doors generated a response, finally. Since the door manufacturer said at least 12 weeks, they decided to have someone custom build the doors and they will be in in (yup you guessed it!) 2 to 3 weeks. Well I will believe it when I see it.
On the positive side though, after bitching about the schedule and the plan (or the apparent lack of one) suddenly some of the things I have been complaining about are getting done. We came back to HOD last week to discover that they had finished installing the cabinets.
If you look at the drawers in this picture you might notice that they are not quite the size of the space between the two sink cabinets. This was the result of the cabinet estimator not measuring this wall correctly. We came up 12 inches short! There are filler pieces on either side of these drawers to make the cabinet fit in the space provided. It took weeks literally to obtain these two small matching pieces of wood and they are the reason the cabinets remained uninstall for so long.
It was extremely important that these two tiny pieces of wood show up because so many other things depend on them being there. Like...
Countertops!
You know, countertops!
This is a MAJOR step forward, finally!
