Well we have been having all sorts of issues securing a contractor for our major make-over. While that effort is still under way today we decided to take matters into our own hands. We began cleaning the decades of tobacco contamination from the walls. Turns out, this process is no where near as difficult as many people were anxious for us to believe.
The master bedroom had stains like this on the walls
But after just a couple of hours with nothing more high tech than a sponge and solution TSP -P and warm water the room looks like this now.
This stuff was so impressive that it wiped smoothly through some of the grossest glop ever in just one go without scrubbing.
But the most amazing thing that we found about this miracle solution was the effect it had on the grass cloth wallpaper in the living room that all contractors that bid on our job called nearly impossible to remove without steam. One guy said it would be cheaper to simply replace the drywall! Yeah.
After three minutes, let me say that again, THREE MINUTES, our test spot looked like this:
I know, the dark area looks really scary. But actually with just a bit of gentle rubbing with our high-tech sponge and it cleans right off as the top portion of the wall attests to. Without exception the people that bid this job all want $5,000 or more to remove this wallpaper. "I don't think so Tim!" We are going to do some of this ourselves, to hell with waiting!
